Committee Structures

Staffing levels for existing institutional repositories vary greatly depending on the size of the institution. Some libraries may have one librarian or staff member assigned to work on the repository, while other libraries have more complicated organizational structures.

Here are some examples of committee structures at other institutions, which may be useful when planning your own IR Committee.

The University of Oregon Library's Scholar's Bank Steering Committee includes librarians from reference and public services, digital library services, and special collections.

The University of Illinois IDEALS project has two full-time staff, a steering committee and a working group.

Northeastern's IRis has the following committee:

IR Committee:
Membership

* NU Libraries (9)
o Dean of Libraries
o Systems librarians (3)
o Research and instruction librarians (3)
o Technical services librarian
o Archivist, chair
* Academic Technology Service
o Academic applications specialist
